First tuna trip of the season found us 58 mile off the beach looking for some bites. First three hours were dead with only one small mystery bite. Finally around 10:30 the long rigger gets slammed and after a great battle Dave sticks the gaff in a 85 lb. “over” Bluefin. The next two hours provide several more bites and we add two more “under” bluefin to the box as well as a mahi.

Out with a crew from North East MD for a day of fun fishing. Guys said they really weren’t worried about keepers so they saved some $$ with the std. trip. Bite was great and I was surprised at the number of keepers we were seeing. By days end we had 62 in the box. Not too bad for a area that’s been hit hard this year.

Out with a crew of friends who’s nationality spans the globe for a day of sea bass action. Weather was nice, current was crazy out of the north and the keeper ratio has dropped from about 3:1 to around 5:1. Lots of moves trying and fill the cooler for these guys throughout the day. When the bell finally rang we had 73 sea bass heading back to NY, 17 shy of our limit.

First two days of Black Sea Bass season found very similar fishing for both crews but fortunately Thursdays seas were much nicer than what we had to deal with on Wednesday, thank you Mr. weather man! First two trips of the 2019 season found us looking for tog in moderately sporty seas. Saturdays bite was awesome and the crew of three of ours country’s finest (Air Force) hit their limit long before the bell range. Ran 40 miles east today with Lisa & Bruce looking for a “big bite”. Ninety minutes into the day and I finally find some bait to work. First bite nails our long rigger but doesn’t come tight.
