A nice day of yellowfin action offshore. Even though things started off rather slowly by the days end we had 5 nice yf in the box and a few other explosions that missed the baits.

Out with a crew of guys eager to lock horns with some of our yellowfin. After less than an hour of fishing they got their wish and we put a single YF in the box. Next encounter sees two rods go down and both of those go in the box. The rest of the day produces three more YF bites but only no more make it in the box thanks to a hook pulling two feet from the gaff and a couple of the guys finding...

Today was to be a tuna trip but the wind forecast for the canyons had this crew choosing to hang closer to the beach for a few hours of bottom fishing. The bite was decent with a nice variety of keepers.

After several days of wind and rough seas we're back on the water with a very nice crew looking for tuna. Pulled the throttles back in 80 fathoms and within 30 minutes three rods get hammered. One fish pulls off after about 30 seconds but the other two make it in the box. The next bite takes a couple hours. I mark the fish about 30' down and throw the boat into a hard turn. Out with a crew of guys from MD in search of tuna. About a hour into the day we get hit with a pair of yellowfins. The first fish makes it in the box but the second angler is having issues and after accidently knocking the reel in freespool several times the slack line finally allowed the fish to shake the hook. Spent the rest of the day chasing tuna on the surface that just would not bite...

Out with a crew from Bucks Co. PA for an offshore combo trip. Morning trolling didn't produce anything so we turned our attention to some tilefishing. Bite was steady even had a couple eight to ten lb. golden's mixed in with the bluelines.

 Made a long run out to the 100 fathom line this morning looking for a yellowfin bite. Thirty minutes into the day we have our first hook-up and and put two nice yellowfins in the box. I make a half mile circle and as soon as we cross the area again we get a singe bite and tuna number three goes in the box. Out for a couple hours of near shore trolling with a crew from upstate New York. The Atlantic Bonita (AKA Greenies) bite was off the charts good. Threw 10 in the box for fish cakes and release about another dozen. Back in the slip after only a few hours since the choppy conditions are not working out well for some.

Today was to be a tuna trip but an early morning starlink call with two fellow captains, one who'd been out since noon on Sunday, without a tuna bite had my guys re-thinking their trip. So I point the boat for constant action as Big Mike gets the tilefish gear ready.
