First two trips of the 2019 season found us looking for tog in moderately sporty seas. Ran 40 miles east today with Lisa & Bruce looking for a “big bite”. Ninety minutes into the day and I finally find some bait to work. First bite nails our long rigger but doesn’t come tight. Ran east today with a crew that made a 7 hour drive for a day of offshore action. Our plan, put some fish in the box and get back to safe harbor before the NW wind machine gets cranking. First bite takes less than 10 minutes and a couple mahi go in the box. Next several hours produce a couple more mahi (one 25#) and several hard pulling fat alberts. Three more days of fantastic mahi action with catch limits hit on most days. Some fish were taken on the troll but most of the action took place on light tackle.

Three days of outstanding mahi fishing. Started each day on the troll but after the fish were located we broke out the light tackle and had a ball. Some of these fish pushed our light tackle to its absolute limit.

A day of mahi action with FedEx Tom and the boys. The bite was outstanding, both light tackle and trolled baits. By late morning we hit the magic number and head for the fish cleaning station.

Finally back on the water after things the ocean calmed down from hurricane Florence. Made a 40 mile run before finding some weeds. The next few hours provide outstanding trolling action on both mahi and fat alberts. With increasing wind, the threat of pending storms and a pretty full box we pull-the-plug around noon and head for the barn.
