Ran 40 miles east today with Lisa & Bruce looking for a “big bite”. Ninety minutes into the day and I finally find some bait to work. First bite nails our long rigger but doesn’t come tight. The next encounter turns out to be a hard pulling false albacore. A few minutes later we get another long rigger bite and this fish quickly empties a 50 wide. While Lisa is fighting her fish one of our other rods takes off fairly close to the boat. Bruce grabs that and wrestles a 100# dusky shark next to the boat before the fish bites through the leader. Fifteen minutes later Lisa has her first Bluefin Tuna (60#) in the box. I continue to work the area and get one more bluefin blowup as well as a few more false albacore. We head back a little early to allow time for the 4 hour drive home.
