Out with a crew from WV for a day of offshore action. Ran 53 miles toward some lobster gear only to find the lobster boat pulling away from the area after hauling all his gear before the pending big wind. So now its 7:30 am and we’re already on “plan B”. Worked out to 200 fathoms and nothing. Point the boat toward the 40 fa line and somewhere near 48 fa we get two big bites. One misses the hook but one comes tight. After a super tough fight Joey sinks the gaff into a fat 67# yellowfin. I continue working the 40 fa. area and around noon we get another double. One fish pulls off after about 30 seconds the other stays tight and proceeds to destroy 3 of the 5 guys on board. After a crazy fight we put the ANGRY 60# yf in the box.
