Back on the water again heading south with JR and the boys for a day of offshore fishing in conditions that are better than expected. At the 4 mile mark Dave tells me the newbie of the crew is already calling Ralph. At the 9 mile point he’s starting on round two so the guys take pity on him and I turn around to drop him off and spend the day around the jetty looking for some of those huge sheepshead that have been caught lately. Fishing conditions were more than challenging at the jetty with a huge swell rolling in and super crazy current. After a couple hours of loosing crabs and sinkers we decide to head off a few miles and try for a shark. Two hours of drifting produce three bites; one that doesn’t come tight, a 40# dusky shark and the big surprise a 46″ red drum that was required to be released after a couple quick pics.
