Out with two ladies who work together for a day of fun. Started the morning pulling our limit of mahi off some lobster gear in the Baltimore canyon. From there we turned our attention to the tilefish. After putting our limited tilefish in the box and still having a lot of time left in the day we throw out a trolling spread. Ran 55 miles with a crew of six to do some ball hopping in the Baltimore Canyon. Competition for the gear amongst the boats was pretty stiff but we managed to find a couple that had not been hit yet and put almost 30 mahi in the box before running out of gear. Made a ten mile run to the tile fish hole and found an outstanding bite with some truly hammer sized blue line tile fish.

Ran just under 30 miles with a crew of four looking for some mid-range mahi. Worked about a dozen sets of flags before we reach our limit (40). With a little bit of time left in the day we stop at a shoal 8 miles off the inlet and spend some time catching greenies.

Ran to the deep today in super calm seas with a crew of meat hunters from South Central PA. Started the day at one of our tilefish hotspots and quickly began filling the box. Ran to the deep today on a combo trip with a crew of 3. Shortly after lines in I noticed a small bilp on my radar and point out way. Turns out to be a high flyer and a lobster ball that apparently has not been touched and was loaded with bailer mahi. In short order we have our limit in the box. Ran 10 miles north with a crew of young teenagers for a day of nearshore fun. Arrived at the hill and immediately started catching taylor bluefish. After a little bit a few more boats arrive and that seemed to kill the bite. We moved 8 mi to the south where we spent a couple hours adding some Atlantic Bonita (aka: Greenies ) to the box. The longest stretch of stiff wind I can remember for early August. Some of the crews were cool with hanging close to the beach and just doing some fun trolling and some weren't interested in that so they opted to reschedule/cancel.

Ran to some gear in the Baltimore canyon in hopes the lobster boat wasn't there yet but after 4 blank pots it was apparent we weren't so lucky. It's like the movie Groundhog Day. Three days of wind and two crews that were cool with doing some fun fishing close to the beach for a few hours. Atlantic Bonita (aka: greenie) bite was very good for both trips. Sent both crews home with some prime cuts ready for the grill that will make some of the finest fish dip you ever will eat.
