Ran to the deep today on a combo trip with a crew of 3. Shortly after lines in I noticed a small bilp on my radar and point out way. Turns out to be a high flyer and a lobster ball that apparently has not been touched and was loaded with bailer mahi. In short order we have our limit in the box. We make a 45-minute run to the tilefish hole and proceed to put that limit in the box as well. With...

Ran 10 miles north with a crew of young teenagers for a day of nearshore fun. Arrived at the hill and immediately started catching taylor bluefish. After a little bit a few more boats arrive and that seemed to kill the bite. We moved  8 mi to the south where we spent a couple hours adding some Atlantic Bonita (aka: Greenies ) to the box. About halfway through the day the kids had caught plenty...

Ran to some gear in the Baltimore canyon in hopes the lobster boat wasn't there yet but after 4 blank pots it was apparent we weren't so lucky. A quick call to a buddy of mine the next canyon south confirmed what i suspected, lobster boat is sitting right next to him. With that plan shot and no yellowfin bites that I've heard of we turn our attention to filling the box. Tilefish bite was good and...

It's like the movie Groundhog Day. Three days of wind and two crews that were cool with doing some fun fishing close to the beach for a few hours. Atlantic Bonita (aka: greenie) bite was very good for both trips. Sent both crews home with some prime cuts ready for the grill that will make some of the finest fish dip you ever will eat.

Two identical days right down to the fact of how far off the forecast was and not in a good way. The trolling portion of each day only yielded a couple fat alberts while the tile fish portion was good but challenging due to the stiff breeze and crazy fast drift.

Three days of stiff winds forced one cancel and two different half day trips. The nearshore trolling was Okay on the first day but pretty darn poor on the second. The catches included Bluefish, Atlantic Bonita, Spanish Mackerel and Frigate Mackerel.

Today's crew have two days reserved with us. One for a fun inexpensive trip and tomorrow for a deep drop trip.  The only caveat is todays catch needs to be good eating. With flounder fishing very subpar and the spanish mackerel not around in good numbers our only option for is trying to find a few keeper sea bass. After a 22 mile run we spend the rest of the day hopping around little pieces of...

Ran to the same area that was so good to us yesterday. After a few hours of trolling with nothing to show but a throwback yellowfin and hearing similar chatter on the radio I offer to take the guys tile fishing. The bite was red hot and even though we only had 2 hours to fish we came home just 3 shy of our limit. I think the motto of this season should be "consistently inconsistent"
