Out with Elam and the boys from Kauffman’s Fruit Farm for a day of offshore action. Ran south 50 miles on a rumor of bluefin but after 90 minutes and only one false albacore and seeing NO other boats I assume it was just a worthless story. Make the 20 mile run out to the Washington Canyon and join all the boats making circles. Many of these boats have been here all morning and are still waiting for their first bite. A couple hours and still no action behind our boat and not hearing of any other fish either I decide to troll north. After about three miles our long rigger gets a bite and we put a 53# yellowfin in the box. A few minutes later we get jumped on by two. One is too small but the other goes in the box. Shorty after those bites we add two nice mahi to the box. Ended the day doing a little deep drop fishing and put some tilefish and sea bass in the box.
