Two days that are nearly carbon copies of each other. Each starts with an offer of deep drop fishing since our tuna bite has gone into the toilet. Both crew have their hearts set on tuna and are OK with the risk of no fish at the days end. Both trips see the first bite about 1 hour into the fishing day. Both of these yellowfin are of the very large size 60# plus but the 30# leader fails after about an hour on each fish and very close to the boat. On the 21st that was our only pull. On the 22nd we had a second chance on even a bigger fish and this time the light leader lasts until literally 4 feet from the gaff. Since both days fishing was within 35 mile of OC I was able to offer both crews a 10 hour day.
