After two lackluster days of fishing I decide to head to a different area with this father and son(s) trio from PA. After 20 mile and building seas I decide to hang close to the beach since I’m sure the boys will not last in these condition. After a two hours of nothing we are approaching a hill that has been very good to me over the past several years. With less than a ¼ mile to go our long rigger gets crushed and after a formidable battle we put Jason’s 85# “over” in the box. About 30 minutes later Jason Jr is on the reel and his 50# bluefin goes in the box too. Next bite takes about an hour and much to my amazement 11 year old Jack cranks the 35# yellowfin in without ANY help. A few minutes later its dads turn again but the hook pulls a couple minutes into the fight. By now the forecast afternoon storms are getting close and the decision is made to head in early. Back in the slip with some very happy anglers and one very impressed captain and mate at how well these young men did.
