Headed out for the first tile fish trip of the season. Are 50 mile run was paused at the halfway point by one of the coolest displays I've ever seen on the water. About a dozen big whales were putting on a show the likes of which I have never seen before. Continue to watch the performance for about 20 minutes before heading out to assault the tile fish. The bite was good and we reached the magic...

First offshore trip of the season was greeted with very marginal water temps for yellowfin and only two or three caught so far in OC this season. Fifteen minutes into the day three rods go down in 62° water. A good fight but not what we're looking for, false albacore. Pushed east and found a 68° edge. Midway thru the morning one of my bridge rods get hit. As the angler is bringing it in I can't...

The super tough Black Sea Bass bite continues. These crazy fish give you one or maybe two drifts over them until the entire mass goes into lockjaw mode. Spent the last three days running all over while staring at my fish finder looking for piles of fish we might be able to grab a couple keepers out of. One of my many stops was a favorite debris pile of mine that had a cloud of fish over it ten...

Not the beginning to the season we were hoping for. Big wind the first two days of the Sea Bass season kept the fleet at dock.   The 3rd day, Friday, looked doable....kind of. Told the guys it would be very sporty and no problem if they didn't wanted to bag it. In true Viking fashion the call was made,  LETS GO! Battled seriously nautical conditions a slow bite and three of the Vikings wishing...

October 2023

October began with some fairly favorable weather allowing our crews to experience our outstanding fall mahi fishing. Mixed in with the mahi were a couple nice wahoo but they always seem to key in on the mono baits which usually ends in heart brake thanks to those nasty teeth. One 90 lb.+ wahoo threw the hook 3 feet from the gaff. Ended our season with a couple outstanding sea bass trips mid...

September 2023

September started off great with trips yielding good numbers of mahi not far from our inlet. On the few days when the mahi got slim the sea bass action was surprisingly good and the size, outstanding! Offshore action on White Marlin was very typical for September and the offshore mahi only got better and better as the month progressed. Things were shaping up to be memorable until the wind started...

Better late than never!  Our mahi have finally arrived in good numbers. Over the last week several crews have quickly limited out on small bailer mahi. Days when the wind forces us to hang tight to the beach our crews are still seeing good catches of Spanish, Bluefish and Atlantic Bonito.

The last ten days had just about everything. Days that were supposed to be nice that turned out to be hateful rough and days that were supposed to be rough that turned out super nice. A couple days of pretty darn good tuna fishing mixed in with some very good tilefish and nearshore trolling action. Spent a couple days with a crew from a local college doing some research work too.

A little tougher weather than we've had over the past few weeks had us hanging closer to the beach than we normally do. The days that we did run deep a couple of which, by days end, we kinda wished we'd have stayed a. Little closer because of totally useless weather forecasts. Fishing has remained about the same, a few yellowfin as well as lots of tilefish and Spanish. Cutlassfish have moved in...

Two very busy weeks with outstanding weather and decent fishing overall. The goofy offshore fishing continues. Seems every day a handful of boats do okay while the other hundred boats only get a handful of bites. More recently a few more marlin encounters and some mahi moving in should help fill our days. Tilefish continues to be red hot despite the crazy current. The nearshore trolling bite is...
