First offshore trip of the season was greeted with very marginal water temps for yellowfin and only two or three caught so far in OC this season. Not the beginning to the season we were hoping for. Big wind the first two days of the Sea Bass season kept the fleet at dock.   The 3rd day, Friday, looked doable....kind of. October began with some fairly favorable weather allowing our crews to experience our outstanding fall mahi fishing. Mixed in with the mahi were a couple nice wahoo but they always seem to key in on the mono baits which usually ends in heart brake thanks to those nasty teeth. September started off great with trips yielding good numbers of mahi not far from our inlet. On the few days when the mahi got slim the sea bass action was surprisingly good and the size, outstanding! Better late than never!  Our mahi have finally arrived in good numbers. Over the last week several crews have quickly limited out on small bailer mahi. Days when the wind forces us to hang tight to the beach our crews are still seeing good catches of Spanish, Bluefish and Atlantic Bonito.

The last ten days had just about everything. Days that were supposed to be nice that turned out to be hateful rough and days that were supposed to be rough that turned out super nice. A couple days of pretty darn good tuna fishing mixed in with some very good tilefish and nearshore trolling action. Spent a couple days with a crew from a local college doing some research work too.

Two very busy weeks with outstanding weather and decent fishing overall. The goofy offshore fishing continues.
