Our excellent fishing continues with increasing numbers of mahi, a surprise brief showing of bluefin tuna and a new catch on the Fin Chaser. On the 16th we released two Roundscale Spearfish, possibly the most beautiful billfish I've ever seen boatside.

Several days of crazy east wind kept us tied-up in the four post hotspot. We were finally able to sneak in a afternoon trip on the 9th and a full day offshore on the 10th.

Last couple days in July provided very good action on Yellowfin, Mahi and Tilefish. Unfortunately August rolled in and brought a lot of wind with it forcing several canceled trips.

More fantastic tile fish trips and one where a couple Mahi decided to join in on the action. Mixed in amongst the offshore trips were a couple nearshore trolling trips that produced limits of 5 to 7 lb blue fish. However the biggest shock was a summertime sea bass surprise for a crew celebrating a 70th birthday and managing to put 40 keepers in the box.

With the Yellowfin hold up nearly 90 miles to the south, even on days when the weather would allow that run, so far the added cost has had our trips choosing Tilefish. Two half-day afternoon trips produced good action on Spanish and ribbonfish for our Jr. anglers.

Out with a crew of three from Western Pennsylvania who still had tilefish in their freezer from last year and wanted to look for tuna even though they were aware those fish are sitting about 50 miles out of range right now.
