Out for a day of deep drop action with a crew of four from PA. With two miles left to go I notice a lobster buoy and swing by for a look. TD pitches a jig and immediately up from the deep comes a nice mahi. A couple of pieces of cut bait later we’ve got two more very respectable fish in the box. With this kind of action I decide to check a second set of gear and am pleasantly surprised with couple more quality mahi. The next two hours are absolutely incredible, some of the best big mahi fishing I’ve seen in years. By 10:15 we have nearly 30 in the box, seven of which are over 20 lbs and one is pushing 30. With more than enough fish to fill their freezer the guy tell me to head for the barn.
