Ran east today with a great crew from Reading PA that we get to spend a day with every year. Threw the hook (anchor) in 100′ of water and sent out the butterfish. First bite takes less than 10 minutes and after a great fish the hook simply pops out of the fishes mouth less than 10 feet from the gaff. Next bite comes in about 15 minutes and that bluefin goes in the box. One hour later we have two more bluefin in the box (our limit of “unders”) and decide to try and find a mahi or two before heading in ahead of the forecast afternoon winds. Worked some sea bass gear and on the final flag we manage to get Tigger his mahi.
