Our tuna have been a little lacking over the last couple trips. One thing that isn’t lacking is this darn wind which has caused some dates to be rescheduled. Seems the large biomass of yellowfin is fading, looking for a new push of fish to show with some of this wind. While the catches have been lees than spectacular I’m just happy to see fish in the box. Some dang good boats have been getting skunked the last few days and that’s not good! Got a couple comments lately questioning why we stop fishing for tuna after a few hour and when we’re still getting bites? Easy answer, the charter wants to try something different. It’s been my experience over many years of doing this that not everyone wants to only catch tuna. Some folks are very happy with one or two yellowfin and wish to spend the rest of the day trying something different, like tilefish, for example.
