Headed to the Poormans today in a fading forecast with Tony and his mom looking to find him a marlin for his birthday. The first two hours were uneventful and only hearing of two fish caught around me I decide to troll north and slightly shallower where a buddy of mine has had a few encounters. With a mile and a half to go a white marlin pops up behind our short rigger but just will not take it. Finally, after what seemed like forever, the white takes the bait as Trevor feeds it to him. After a 15 minute hard struggle we have Tony’s 1st marlin at the boat for pics. As I get the boat back in position TD resets the spread. About 5 minutes later another white is chasing my long rigger, not a circle hook rig. I try and keep the bait away from the fish as TD drops back a circle hook rig. the marlin turns on it and TD feeds him. Now it Jen’s turn on the rod and she does a great job as the fish puts on a aerial display behind the boat. After 15 minutes we have Jen’s 1st marlin at the boat for pics. I spin the boat around and as TD is setting out the second bait a white comes in out of no where and grabs it. Now its Ashleigh’s turn and 10 minutes later we have her fish at the boat for pics. By now its about 10:45 and conditions are going down hill fast the folks decide to call it a day.
