Pointed the boat east today with a crew of twenty-something Penn State alumni looking to fill the cooler with the other white meat…..TILEFISH!! After a learning curve of a couple drifts they figured out the program and fish started hitting the box in fairly good numbers. Even though we were in an area known for blueline tilefish we actually encountered a couple goldens today, the largest of which was Deanna’s 35 lb. dandy as well as Alex’s respectable 22 lb. Shortly before 1:00 we hit the magic number and head for the barn. FYI a couple boats fishing to our south found good numbers of YF today in case anyone out there is still interested in giving it a go this year yet.
