Out with a crew from NJ for a day of shark action. Hopes were high as we broke the inlet considering our last shark trip just a few days ago. With 10 miles left to go I talk to a friend who’s been drifting for nearly 90 minutes without a pull. We spend the first hour trying to catch some false albacore for bait but can’t find any even with bait, whales and birds everywhere. We send out the shark baits and wait and wait and wait. Finally after two hours we have a blue shark on the line. After a rather lack luster fight by this sizable fish we cut the wire next to the boat. Another hour without a bite and the two other boats around us not seeing a fish we decide to run back inshore and try to snag some dinner. Spend the last 45 minutes of the day weeding through the sea bass and managing enough keepers for a nice fish fry or two.
