With the tuna still MIA for the most part and offshore mahi fishing VERY hit or miss most crew are opting for the less expensive sure thing….KINGS!  And while you do need to weed through the trash (fat alberts & blues) the pay off is delicious and the cherry on top of the sundae…when the occasional mahi finds your hook. Paddled out to the canyons on Saturday and went one for two on white marlin and got jumped by the yellowfins but only two got the hook. Maybe, just maybe, the drought is starting to break. Hearing of a couple yellowfin starting to show the last couple days, crossed fingers!
