Back to tuna chunking after a couple days of other targets on the radar. First bite takes about ten minutes but the fish finds the anchor rope of the boat behind us and breaks off. The next three bites either pull off or break the 30 lb. leader. I tell TD that I can’t ever remember loosing this many fish to gear failure. Shorty thereafter I hear the guys talking about the long evil fruit. Yep, they’re on board….for now. Step up to 40 lb. leader and the fish don’t mind at all. The next two hours are great going 6 out of 7 on nice yellowfins. Back in the slip early with 6 yf in the box and a very happy and tired charter.
