Today's crew have two days reserved with us. One for a fun inexpensive trip and tomorrow for a deep drop trip.  The only caveat is todays catch needs to be good eating. With flounder fishing very subpar and the spanish mackerel not around in good numbers our only option for is trying to find a few keeper sea bass. After a 22 mile run we spend the rest of the day hopping around little pieces of...

Ran to the same area that was so good to us yesterday. After a few hours of trolling with nothing to show but a throwback yellowfin and hearing similar chatter on the radio I offer to take the guys tile fishing. The bite was red hot and even though we only had 2 hours to fish we came home just 3 shy of our limit. I think the motto of this season should be "consistently inconsistent"

Out for the yearly trip with Eric and the guys but they were one man shy thanks to a little too much arm bending the night before. Our first encounter takes about an hour. One of our flat lines gets crushed by white marlin and after a 15 minute flight we have the fish next to the boat for pictures. I turn north towards the Baltimore canyon in absolutely hateful head sea. About 3 miles south of...

Ran north to the bluefin grounds in zero visibility. Fished by radar for the first hour until my nerves were totally shot. Move a couple miles offshore to a little hill and as soon as we came up the edge my way back gets hit. Whatever we have on is not fighting like a tuna. About 20 ft from the boat the fish pops to the surface and I'm  looking at a 70-80 lb wahoo. The bugger shakes his head and...

Today began with serious screw-up on the part of a charter. This will definitely make it into my memoirs when I write my book. After getting things straightened the mate and I spend the day with a very enjoyable family. After briefly looking for tuna we turned our attention to filling the box with tilefish

Made a 55 mile run east this morning to 80 fathoms in search of tuna. After 3 hours of trolling and hearing only of three tuna caught amongst 20+ boat we make the bold move to run 20 mi west to a big shoal that is rumored to have produced some fish earlier in the morning. About 2 miles east of the shoal our short spreader bar gets absolutely crushed and the fish screams off line but after about 2...

Todays crew of mostly college aged guys experienced some early fireworks in the form of yellowfin tuna exploding on our baits today. Even though the days started almost an hour late, i guess one of the young bucks had a late night, by the end of our slightly shorter day we had four in the box, one released and a few other swings and missed.
