Out with a crew of UWV Mountaineers for a day of Mahi & Tilefish action. Worked the southern gear in the morning and scratched together a decent catch of mahi mostly on light tackle. With the gear all covered we throw out a trolling spread on the way to the tilefish grounds. After about 10 minutes a sailfish pops up behind our long rigger and takes the bait. While Derick is doing battle another sail is dogging our short rigger on the other side. He seem interested but will not commit so we focus on getting the hooked fish to the boat. After some pictures of the sail the fish is released to fight another day. Ended the day by adding a nice shot of tilefish to the box.
