Out for a day of tuna fishing but hearing about some very hungry bluefish instead. Our first 30 minutes of trolling finds us covered-up by 15 lb.+ chopper bluefish destroying our stuff. As the other boats pull out I ask the guys if they’d consider going after tilefish instead since these blues are going to make our day miserable and costly. The guys love the idea! Made the 25 mile run to find fair tilefish action but crazy current to deal with making it difficult to hold bottom with less than 48 oz of lead. Hit our limit around noon and work our way home hoping to find some tuna on the surface along the way.
