Out with a crew from Baltimore for a day of tog fishing. The bite was red hot during the morning and these tog newbies managed to load the cooler with some very respectable fish. The bite slowed sometime around 11 and completely shut down by just after noon. Back in the 4 post hot spot (aka:slip) with 19 in the box the largest going 8.5 lbs.

Braved some pretty sporty conditions with a crew of biologists for more black sea bass research. The action was very good, despite the conditions. Actually it was so good they ran out of bait (I was not permitted to provide any bait) ¾ of the way through the second day.

Spent a few hours this morning at the south jetty with a crew from WV who weren’t gonna let 20 knot winds and 5-6′ seas spoil their day. Tog fishing in those rocks can be tough on a calm day not to mention these conditions but the guys held their own and even managed to put a couple keepers in the box.

Our season began today with a preseason black sea bass study trip with a crew of marine biologists from nearby states. The bite was very good with most fish being released after data was recorded. Some of the fish were headed back to the labs for more testing. The crew also caught big numbers of the largest cunner I’ve ever seen as well as a 23″ cod which they took for the dinner table.
