Headed east today toward some crab gear looking to get these guys on some mahi. Arrived at the string around 7:15 and to my astonishment there are two boats already working the gear. Worked had for a couple hours and managed to pull out about a dozen fish from the few sets of gear that wasn’t already hit. Picked up lines and while making a 15 mile run I come to an area that is all slicked up with birds working. We set the spread and start looking. I haven’t seen this much bait in a while but I’m not marking any fish. Continue to work the area and I finally see some fish next to the boat. A hard turn and both spreader bars get nailed. Five minutes later we have to blt yellowfins in the box. With 10 minutes left in the day I spot the fish again and turn hard. This time only one bar comes tight and it turns out to be a jumbo size turkey.
