Ocean City, MD Deep Sea Fishing for
Tuna, Marlin, Wahoo, Mahi-Mahi, Shark, Flounder, Tog, Sea Bass, Spadefish and Much More.
Just a few miles off the coast of Ocean
City Maryland lies some of the best fishing on the east coast. The waters off Ocean City are home to countless wrecks and
reefs teeming with hungry Sea Bass, Tog, Triggerfish, Flounder and Sea Trout. It is common for an 8 hour charter to catch
in excess of 200 fish and taking fish on a bare hook is a regular occurance! Most anyone can point a boat east, drop
a line to the bottom and wait for the bite, but knowing where these wrecks and reefs are located is the difference between
catching a dozen fish a day and dozens per hour. A little farther east, some 50 miles off Ocean City lies the pristine blue
waters known as the "canyons". Here the bottom drops from 300 feet to over 6000 feet. This sudden drop causes a
condition known as up-welling. Up-welling occurs when the nutrient rich waters of the deep are forced upward toward the surface.
This condition combined with the warm water tempatures of the nearby gulf stream are a mecca for Tuna, Marlin, Dolphin, Wahoo,
and Mako Shark. The Captain and Crew of the Fin Chaser have fished the coastal and offshore waters of Ocean City since the
early 80's. Their knowledge of the waters and bottom structure will make for a truly memorable day of fishing. So whether
your game is fighting a hard-pulling tuna, hooking a spectacular leaping marlin, filling the fish box with dozens of
beautiful mahi-mahi, catching a hundred tasty sea bass or wrestling a 12 lb. tog (bulldog) out of a wreck, the captain
and crew of the "Fin Chaser" will do everything possible to make your fishing day on the ocean a great success.
Few boats on the water today share the same storied history as the Bertram 31.
Their remarkable hull design and proven fish catching ability prompted "Marlin" magazine to include this boat in
its list of the top 10 sportfishing boats of all time. This endorsement along with fantastic maneuvering ability and fuel
efficiency were three big reasons I decided to purchase a 31 Bertram. Today's charter rates aren't cheap! Many charter boats
can run well over $1800.00 a day which is understandable when the boat may have cost over a quarter million dollars and
might burn 60+ gallon of fuel per hour. I wanted a boat that offered plenty of fishing room for large parties but
was efficient enough that a 2 or 3 person charter could still afford to go. Twin 210 horsepower Cummins diesels provide "Fin
Chaser" a 24 knot cruise. A super size cockpit and modern restroom make for a comfortable day on the water.
She is tournament rigged with only the best Penn & Shimano tackle and equipped with the most up-to-date marine
electronics. Captain DanStauffer, affectionately known throughout
the local fishing community as "Danny", is licensed by the US Coast Guard and is a guest speaker on the Saltwater
Sportsman Magazine Traveling Seminar Series hosted by ESPN's George Poveromo. Capt. Dan grew up fishing the waters off
of Ocean City MD, Palm Beach & Marathon FL. He has run boats off of Ocean City since the early 80's. The pictures you
see on our website are all recent and many of which are dated. We strive to keep our fishing reports up-to-date and we
post EVERYTHING, not just the good days, but the good, the bad, and the ugly.
